Four checks before you choose a virtual card

A short checklist that turns a broad product into a decision you can make with confidence.

A virtual card is useful when it fits the purchase you have in mind. It is not automatically suitable for every website or subscription, and what is available can differ by country and by card. These four checks take a minute and save a declined payment.

1. Start with where you live

Cards are offered by country of residence, and some cards are not available in some countries. Check the country on the card page before you choose an amount.

2. Read the currency and the fees

Check the currency the card is loaded in and the fees shown before you pay. If the card is not in the currency you pay in, an exchange rate applies and is shown on the page.

3. Check limits and merchant restrictions

  • The minimum and maximum you can load.
  • Any note about where the card cannot be used.
  • Whether the card suits the specific shop or service you have in mind.

4. Know what happens if a payment is declined

A declined payment usually comes from the merchant or the card issuer, not from the amount alone. Note the message you saw and the merchant name before you contact support.

Common questions

Will every virtual card work on every website?
No. A card can have restrictions on where it can be used, and a merchant can decline a card for its own reasons. Read the card note before you buy.
Where do I get my card details?
They are sent to the email address and WhatsApp number you give when you buy, and they are shown in the app.
