Make the conversation clearer: an internet calling checklist

How to prepare for an internet call, and what to note if something goes wrong.

Internet calls depend on your device, your connection and the destination. This checklist is practical preparation, not a guarantee about any particular call.

Before an important call

  • Check your connection and that the microphone and speaker work.
  • Choose somewhere you can hear the other person.
  • Review the applicable rate for the destination first.
  • Consider a short test call before a long one.

If something goes wrong, describe it

Note when you tried, the destination country and what you experienced. "The call did not connect" and "it connected but I could not hear" are different problems, and saying which helps support investigate.

Share details privately

Send reference details through support, and avoid posting another person's full number in public.

Common questions
